Washington County Courthouse

Chatom, Alabama

This historical marker is located in front of the Washington County courthouse at Chatom. The GPS coordinates are 31°27’56.7″N 88°15’22.6″W. The marker provides details about Washington County which is the oldest established county in the state of Alabama, and originally included much of both the states of Alabama and Mississippi. This marker was erected by the Alabama Historical Association in 1959.

Inscription

The Washington County Courthouse as it was built in 1908. It was razed in 1963.This memorial cornerstone was placed by the Washington County Historical Society and the Washington County Museum. 2014
